Clara: I gave you two years of my life, Julian. I supported you when your startup was failing.
Julian: Clara, don't make a scene in front of my family's investors and colleagues.
Victoria: Your little job at that public defense firm doesn't pay for the air you breathe in this dining room.
Clara: My work as an attorney gives me something you clearly lack, Victoria: an understanding of law and human respect.
Victoria: Do not speak to me about law in my own house!
Victoria picked up her wine glass, her manicured fingers trembling with cold rage as she glared across the table.
Clara: This contract isn't even legally binding in the state of New York, and you know it.
Victoria: It will be binding enough when my corporate attorneys tie you up in court for ten years until you're bankrupt!
Julian: Mom, stop it, you're going too far!
Victoria: Shut up, Julian! She is a gold-digger trying to claw her way into our family fortune!
Clara: Fortune? You think I care about your mortgage-backed estate and your fading family reputation?
Victoria: How dare you speak about our home like that!
Victoria stood up abruptly, her chair scraping harshly against the light marble floor.
Victoria: You are a nobody! Your family lives in some trashy suburb, and you came here begging for a ring!
Clara: My parents taught me hard work and honor. They didn't teach me to buy people with trust funds.
Victoria: Sign the prenup or get out of my house before I have security throw you onto the pavement!
Julian: Clara, please... just put your signature on the last page. We can talk to the divorce lawyers later to change it.
Clara: You're telling me to sign away my legal rights as a mother so you don't lose your allowance?
Julian: That's not what I'm saying!
Clara: That is exactly what you are saying, Julian.
