Clara: I wouldn't sign this contract if my life depended on it.
Victoria: Then you are finished! Get out!
Clara picked up the thick stack of papers, her hands perfectly steady as she looked Victoria straight in the eye.
Clara: No one speaks to me like this. Not you, and not your coward son.
Slowly and deliberately, Clara tore the legal document right down the center, the sound of tearing paper echoing across the quiet room.
Victoria: You crazy little bitch!
Victoria stepped forward rapidly and delivered a hard, sharp slap straight across Clara's cheek.
The crack of palm meeting skin caused several guests at the table to gasp in absolute horror.
Clara's head snapped to the side, her skin instantly burning red, but she did not drop to her knees.
Julian: Mom! What are you doing?!
Victoria: She needed to learn her place! She is nothing!
Clara slowly turned her head back, touching her stinging cheek with two fingers, her gaze ice cold.
Clara: You just made the biggest legal and personal mistake of your entire life, Victoria.
Victoria: What are you going to do? Call the police? Who do you think they will believe? Me, or a penniless girl?
Clara: Look up at the ceiling, Victoria.
Victoria frowned, glancing up at the corner of the grand dining room ceiling.
Clara: High-definition dome security camera. Right above the chandelier, recording in full 4K audio and video.
Victoria: That camera belongs to my security network! The footage is stored on my private server!
Clara: Is it really? Who installed that high-tech security system for this historic property last winter?
Victoria paused, her smug expression suddenly faltering for a split second.
Victoria: My estate management group handled it.
Clara: Your estate management group was hired by the property's primary holding firm, Sterling & Associates.
