Richard Sterling: You won't get away with this, Maria! I'll have my attorneys ruin you!
Lead Lawyer: Your personal accounts have already been frozen pending investigation, Richard. You don't have access to the legal fund anymore.
Richard Sterling: What?! You can't freeze my accounts!
Lead Lawyer: The court order was signed thirty minutes ago when Mrs. Sterling submitted her marriage certificate to the judge.
Evelyn Sterling: Maria... please... can we talk about this like family?
Maria: We were never family to you, Evelyn. You looked right through me every time I poured your coffee.
Victoria Sterling: What is going to happen to the estate now?
Maria: The estate will be managed by an independent trust until Leo turns twenty-one. Not a single dollar will go to waste on lavish parties or cover-ups.
Leo: Does that mean we can leave now, Mommy?
Maria: Yes, my sweet boy. We are leaving right now, and we are never coming back to this place.
Police Officer: Step forward, Mr. Sterling. Let's go.
The crowd parted as the police led Richard Sterling out of the mansion in handcuffs, his head bowed to avoid the flashing cameras of the local news crews. The grand hall, once filled with arrogant chatter and fake smiles, remained dead silent as Maria took off her white apron and dropped it onto the pristine marble floor.
Leo: Can we go get ice cream now, Mommy? The real kind, not the fancy kind they have here?
Maria: We can get whatever kind of ice cream you want, baby. Anything in the world.
Lead Lawyer: Mrs. Sterling, my car is outside. I will escort you and your son to a secure hotel while we finalize the paperwork for the inheritance.
Maria: Thank you, Mr. Harrison. Thank you for doing what was right.
Lead Lawyer: It was the least I could do for Thomas's memory. He was a good man.
