Richard: Mom! What happened in here? Evelyn, why are you on the floor?
Eleanor: Ask your cruel excuse for a wife what she just did to Sarah’s baby!
Evelyn: Richard, she attacked me! She walked in here and slapped me for no reason!
Eleanor: Shut your mouth, Evelyn! I saw you cut down Sarah’s swing with those shears! I saw you try to hit this innocent child!
Richard: Evelyn... tell me you didn't do that. Tell me you didn't destroy Sarah's rose swing.
Evelyn: It was an eyesore, Richard! A dead woman's trash taking up space in our luxury greenhouse! I wanted it gone so my daughter could have her play area!
Eleanor: This house is not yours! The trust fund that owns this entire property belongs to Sarah’s estate and little Maya!
Evelyn: What are you talking about? Richard told me he inherited this mansion from his father!
Richard: Evelyn, please, just be quiet for a second...
Eleanor: He lied to you, Evelyn! Just like he lied to everyone else! Richard doesn't own a single brick of this building!
Maya sobbed softly into Eleanor’s shoulder, her small frame shaking as Eleanor rocked her gently back and forth. Evelyn stared at her husband, her eyes wide with shock and sudden anger.
Evelyn: Richard... is this true? Is this house not yours?
Richard: It's complicated, Evelyn. The legal paperwork... the inheritance... it was all tied up when Sarah passed away.
Eleanor: It is not complicated at all. Sarah bought this property with her own family money long before she ever married you. She left the deed in a primary trust for Maya, with me as the sole trustee until Maya turns twenty-one!
Evelyn: You're lying! I am his wife! I have rights to this estate!
Eleanor: You have no rights here! You are a trespasser who just committed child abuse under my roof!
Maya: Grandmama... swing broke... pretty flowers broken...
Eleanor: Shh, my sweet baby. Grandmama is here now. Nobody is ever going to hurt you again.
Richard: Mom, please, let's talk about this in the living room. We don't need to involve lawyers or police.
Eleanor: Get control of your wife right now, Richard, or I swear to God I will call 911 and have her arrested for assault before the sun goes down!
Evelyn: You wouldn't dare! Richard, tell your mother to leave!
Richard: Evelyn, stop talking! You don't understand what you've done!
Eleanor: Oh, she is going to understand very soon. I am going straight to my divorce lawyer's office, and I am revoking your residence permit for this property. Both of you start packing your bags!
Evelyn gasped, clutching her chest as she looked around the grand, sunlight-filled greenhouse that she thought was her permanent paradise. The reality of her situation was finally crashing down around her, but Eleanor was nowhere near finished.
