The bright Texas sun poured through the high windows of the Dallas estate, reflecting off the polished white marble floor. Clara stood near the entryway, her hands trembling as she clutched a small silver urn tightly against her chest. Inside were the ashes of her late mother, the only person who had ever truly loved her. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart, but the sound of heavy heels echoing across the foyer made her freeze.
Victoria: Give me that family heirloom right now, you nobody!
Clara stepped back, pulling the urn closer to her body as Victoria approached. Victoria was dressed in a sweeping gold satin gown, her face twisted in pure contempt. For years, Victoria had treated Clara like nothing more than hired help in her own family’s home, ignoring the quiet bond Clara had shared with the late patriarch of the house.
Clara: Please, Victoria. This isn't a piece of jewelry or an antique. It’s my mother. She meant everything to me.
Victoria: I don't care about your sob story or your dead mother! Everything in this mansion belongs to this family, and that includes whatever silver you’re trying to steal!
Victoria stepped forward rapidly, her eyes fixed on the silver urn. Clara tried to duck away, but Victoria lunged, grabbing Clara’s arm with sharp acrylic nails. Clara gasped from the sudden pain, losing her balance on the smooth marble floor. She fell hard onto her knee, her fingers slipping from the urn. The urn hit the floor with a loud metallic clatter, sliding across the foyer.
Clara: No! Please, stop!
Victoria: You have no right to anything here! You’re leaving this house today with nothing!
Clara scrambled on her hands and knees toward the urn, tears burning her eyes as she pulled it back into her arms. She looked up at Victoria, who was towering over her with a cold smirk. Clara’s voice cracked as she made her final plea, completely unaware that the heavy grand doors behind Victoria were about to swing open, bringing a secret to light that would change both of their lives forever.
Clara: Please, this belonged to my late mother! You’ve taken everything else, just let me keep her!
