Victoria sneered down at Clara, raising her hand as if to snatch the urn once more. But before she could make another move, the heavy front doors burst open with a loud thud that echoed off the high ceiling.
Ethan: Take your hands off her right now!
Ethan storming into the foyer sent a wave of tension through the room. Dressed in a sharp charcoal suit and followed by two uniformed security guards, his expression was furious. He moved quickly across the marble floor, placing himself directly between Victoria and Clara.
Victoria: Ethan? What are you doing back early from Chicago? And why did you bring security into my house?
Ethan: Your house? Is that what you’ve been telling yourself while father was in the hospital, Victoria?
Ethan knelt down beside Clara on the cold floor. His harsh tone completely softened as he looked at her bruised arm and tears.
Ethan: Are you okay, Clara? Did she hurt you?
Clara: I... I’m fine, Ethan. I just wanted to take my mother's ashes and leave like Victoria asked. I didn't want any trouble.
Ethan: You don't have to leave, Clara. You’re never going to be forced out of this house again.
Ethan helped Clara stand up, keeping a supportive arm around her shoulder before turning his gaze back to Victoria. Victoria adjusted her gold dress, rolling her eyes in annoyance.
Victoria: Ethan, don't be dramatic. She was trying to walk out of here with valuable family estate property. I was simply protecting our family’s assets.
Ethan: That urn contains her mother's ashes! And as for our family assets, you don't own a single square foot of this property.
Victoria: What are you talking about? Dad passed away last week. I am his eldest daughter. This mansion, the estate, the family trust fund—it all belongs to me!
Ethan: You really thought you had it all figured out, didn't you? You spent months isolating dad, changing lockboxes, and hiding documents. But father wasn't stupid.
Victoria: Watch your mouth, Ethan! I am the rightful heir to the entire fortune!
Ethan: She is my biological sister, and sole heir to this entire estate!
The foyer went dead silent. The words seemed to hang in the air like heavy smoke. Victoria’s face drained of color as she stared at Ethan, then at Clara.
Victoria: Wait, no... what did you just say? That's impossible! She’s just the housekeeper’s daughter!
Ethan: She’s not just the housekeeper's daughter. She is father's legitimate daughter, born from his secret legal marriage before he met your mother. And his final, legal will makes everything abundantly clear.
