Julian: She is my biological sister.
The words hung in the grand foyer like a suffocating cloud. Sarah’s head snapped up, her eyes wide with total shock.
Sarah: What... what did you just say, Mr. Sterling?
Margarethe: Your sister?! Are you insane?! You don't have a sister! Your parents had one son—you!
Julian: My father had an affair twenty-four years ago with his legal secretary. When she got pregnant, my mother paid her two million dollars to disappear and surrender all legal claims to the family estate. But my father felt guilty until the day he died. In his private trust fund documents, he left a mandatory clause.
Margarethe: A trust fund clause?
Julian: If his illegitimate daughter was ever located, fifteen percent of the entire Sterling estate and corporate holdings would immediately transfer to her upon her twenty-fifth birthday.
Sarah stood up slowly, her hands trembling as she looked at Julian.
Sarah: My mother... her name was Elena. She always told me my father was a businessman who abandoned us...
Julian: Your mother was Elena Vance. I hired a private investigator six months ago to track you down, Sarah. When I realized you were living in a small apartment struggling to pay her medical treatments, I hired you here under a false pretense so I could evaluate your character before telling you the truth.
Margarethe: You brought her into my home on purpose?! You knew she was entitled to millions of dollars of our money?!
Julian: It's not your money, Margarethe! It was my father's money, and by law and right, it is Sarah's money! Your twenty-fifth birthday is next week, Sarah.
Sarah: I... I don't know what to say. I just thought you were a kind employer.
Julian: You earned every bit of respect I have for you. You worked hard, never complained, and took care of our mother while this parasite spent thousands on shoes!
