Justice And A New Beginning

The Father Saved Her Baby From The Falling Balcony Deck

Ten minutes later, Sarah's car pulled into the driveway. She walked through the front entrance cautiously, her eyes red and swollen. David met her in the hallway, right under the framed USA flag painting. He didn't say a word at first—he simply stepped forward and wrapped his arms around her tightly, holding her close against his shoulder.

Sarah burst into tears, wrapping her arms around his waist as the heavy weight of secrecy finally lifted off her shoulders.

Sarah: I was so scared, David. I thought you would hate me for bringing Eleanor's troubles into our home.

David: You should have told me from day one. We are partners, Sarah. You never have to carry a burden like this alone.

Sarah: What happened on the balcony... a man had broken through the patio door from the back stairs. He threatened to take the baby if I didn't hand over the estate papers in my briefcase. I backed up to the railing, and when he lunged at me, I lost my balance and dropped the blanket.

David: I know. I saw the scuff marks on the patio glass when I went back inside. You were trying to keep the baby safe from him.

David pulled back gently, holding her hands in his. He walked her into the nursery room where the baby was just starting to stir from her sleep. They stood together beside the wooden crib, looking down at the sweet, innocent face of Eleanor's newborn child.

David: I talked to my law firm's senior partner five minutes ago. We are liquidating my personal trust fund to pay off Eleanor's medical bills in full today. The mortgage debt will be completely wiped clean by tomorrow morning.

Sarah: David... that was your lifetime savings!

David: Money can always be earned back, Sarah. But family is irreplaceable. We are adopting this little girl officially, and she is going to grow up right here in this house, safe and loved.

Sarah smiled through her tears, reaching down to stroke the baby's soft cheek. The child let out a tiny, happy coo, reaching her small hand up into the air.

Sarah: What are we going to name her?

David: Grace. Because she brought us back together when everything was falling apart.

They stood side by side in the sunlit room, holding hands as they looked toward a bright, secure future for their newly complete family.
