A Toddler on the Aisle

The Flash Drive Left on the Marble Aisle

Brenda: Mark, this is ridiculous. She’s two years old! She doesn't know what she’s saying. Someone must have put her up to this drama to ruin our special day!

Mark: She’s terrified, Brenda. Look at her face. Where did she even get this flash drive?

Brenda: How should I know? Kids pick up trash from the floor all the time! Security, please come take the child to her room so we can finish the vows!

Mark: Nobody touches my daughter! Step back right now!

Best Man Eric: Mark, calm down for a second. Do you want me to plug it into the laptop at the DJ booth? We can check what's on it real quick.

Mark: Yes, Eric. Plug it in right now. I want to see what my daughter is holding.

Brenda: No! Mark, are you serious? You're going to pause our wedding because a baby is having a nightmare? This is embarrassing in front of all our friends and business partners!

Mark: If it's nothing, then we lose two minutes. Why are you sweating so much, Brenda?

Brenda: I'm not sweating! I'm angry that you don't trust me!

Best Man Eric: Mark, the file is loaded. It’s a single video file named 'Backyard_Gate_Cam'. It’s dated six months ago... the exact night Sarah died.

Mark: Play it on your phone. Hand it to me.

Mark took Eric's phone with trembling fingers. The wedding guests strained their necks, trying to see what was happening on the small screen. The room became completely silent except for the low hum of the air conditioner and Lily's quiet sobs against Mark's shoulder.

Mark: This is the camera angle from the pool house... the one security said was broken that night.

Brenda: Mark, don't waste time watching fake files. Someone edited that to frame me!

Mark: Shut up, Brenda! Just shut up and let me look!

On the screen, a shadowy figure walked along the edge of the dark swimming pool. Mark recognized his late wife, Sarah, wearing her blue bathrobe. A few seconds later, another woman walked into the frame from behind the guest house. She was wearing high heels and a long coat.

Mark: That's... that's your red coat, Brenda. You told the police you were at your apartment in downtown Dallas that whole night.

Brenda: It was cold that month! Millions of women own red coats!

Mark: Look at the screen... you walked right up behind her. You pushed her into the deep end!
