The probate courthouse was brightly lit as Arthur and Thomas walked into the third-floor administrative office with their lawyer. Evelyn, Clara, and David were already sitting at the long wooden conference table, preparing to finalize the deed.
Evelyn stood up with a smirk, assuming Arthur had come to make a pathetic plea to stay in the guest room. She held the final property transfer folder in her hand, ready to hand it to the court official.
Evelyn: Arthur, you are making a scene. You should have stayed home where it is quiet for you.
Arthur: The only scene here is the scam you have been running against my family, Evelyn.
David: Dad, stop this right now. You agreed to let Evelyn handle the real estate assets.
Thomas: Shut up and look at these files, David! Open your eyes for once in your life!
Thomas slammed the investigator's folder onto the table directly in front of his older brother with a loud crash. David picked up the documents, his eyes scanning the police records and bank fraud charges from Evelyn's past marriages.
David's face turned completely pale as he realized how horribly he had been deceived by Evelyn's elaborate lies. He looked at Evelyn, who was now backing away toward the corner of the room in sudden panic.
David: You... you lied to me about Dad's medical reports? You forged his consent forms?
Evelyn: David, listen to me, those records are completely fabricated by your brother to split us up!
Arthur's Lawyer: They aren't fabricated. Two detectives from the fraud division are waiting right outside this door.
The heavy office door opened, and two uniformed police officers stepped inside, holding a set of steel handcuffs. Evelyn gasped, dropping her designer handbag onto the floor as the officers moved swiftly toward her position.
Police Officer: Evelyn Vance, you are under arrest for grand larceny, forgery, and elder financial abuse.
Clara: You can't do this to us! We didn't do anything wrong! Let go of her!
Police Officer: Handcuff her daughter as well for accomplice to wire fraud and real estate document forgery.
Clara screamed in shock as the metal cuffs clicked tightly around her wrists in front of the court officials. Evelyn glared at Arthur with pure hatred, but Arthur stood tall, showing zero fear in his steady eyes.
