Sarah: Mark, be reasonable! I panicked! I froze when he started rolling!
Mark: You didn't freeze! I just watched you stand there with your hands at your side for five full seconds while my son fell!
Mark took a step toward Sarah, his voice trembling with explosive anger that made the entire foyer ring.
Mark: You did this on purpose!
Sarah: I would never hurt Leo! He’s your son!
Mark: That’s exactly why you did it, isn't it? Because he’s MY son from my first marriage, not yours!
Sarah backed away until her spine hit the wooden staircase banister, her eyes wide with fear as Mark confronted her face-to-face.
Sarah: You’re being paranoid! I’ve been trying so hard to be a good stepmother to your children!
Mark: A good stepmother? Ever since we signed the prenuptial agreement six months ago, you’ve been complaining about my kids’ trust fund allocation!
Sarah: That has nothing to do with this!
Mark: My late wife’s life insurance policy was split between Lily and Leo! You knew that if anything happened to Leo before his eighteenth birthday, his portion of the trust fund reverted to the surviving guardian!
Sarah: Are you seriously accusing me of trying to injure a baby for money?
Mark: I don't have to accuse you! The evidence is stored in cloud servers right now!
Mark raised his hand, shoving the phone screen inches away from her face.
Mark: Look at your expression on the video! You didn't scream until AFTER he hit the rug! You staged the whole reaction!
Sarah: Okay! Fine! You want the truth?
