David placed his ear directly against the cold metal door on the bright marble floor.
Trapped Voice: Please! Is someone out there? Help me!
David's breath caught in his throat as a cold shiver ran all the way down his spine.
He recognized that soft, trembling voice instantly, even though he had not heard it in three long years.
David: Sarah? Is that really you down there?
Trapped Voice: David! Oh God, David, please get me out of here!
David jumped to his feet, turning toward Victoria with absolute fury in his dark eyes.
David: You told me my wife died in a terrible hit and run accident three years ago!
Victoria: David, please listen to me! I did this to save our family from total ruin!
David: Give me the code to this lock right now, Victoria!
Victoria: I will never give you the combination to that cellar lock!
David grabbed his smartphone from his pocket, his hands shaking with unstoppable rage.
David: You have five seconds to punch in the code before I smash this entire door open!
Victoria backed up toward the main entrance doors, clutching her designer purse tight against her chest.
Victoria: She was going to take the entire estate and the family business away from us!
David: You kept my wife locked beneath my own home for three entire years?
Victoria: I provided for her! She had food and water down there every single day!
David: You monster! You stole her life and stole her from her daughter!
Lily began to cry loudly, reaching out for her father's hand as the shouting grew louder.
Lily: Daddy, is that my real Mommy down in the hole?
David: Yes, sweetie! Stay right behind me while I get her out!
David ran into the kitchen and grabbed a heavy steel crowbar from the utility toolbox under the sink.
He rushed back into the bright foyer where Victoria was trying desperately to unlock the front door locks.
David: Do not even think about stepping out of this house, Victoria!
David slammed the flat end of the heavy steel crowbar straight into the gap near the lock mechanism.
With a hard lever push, the cheap metal latch snapped open with a loud popping noise.
David pulled the heavy wooden hatch door wide open, letting the bright room light pour into the deep space.
A pale hand reached up out of the darkness toward the bright light of the mansion hallway.
David leaned down deep into the opening, wrapping his strong arms around the fragile woman inside.
He lifted Sarah up out of the concrete cavity, setting her gently onto the clean marble floor.
Sarah blinked repeatedly against the bright daylight, tears streaming down her pale and thin cheeks.
Sarah: David... my sweet baby girl... I thought I would never see you again!
Lily ran into Sarah's open arms, throwing her small arms around her mother's neck with deep sobs.
Victoria made a fast break for the heavy front double doors, turning the handle with all her power.
