The elder senator held up his hand to quiet the roaring crowd below, pointing his staff directly at the trembling monarch.
Elder Senator: The original trust and title deeds of the founding family explicitly state the lineage test. Aurelius, your reign is declared void.
King Aurelius: You cannot strip my crown! I have five regiments outside the city gates!
Guard Captain: The regiments answer to the council and the true heir, Aurelius. Stand down.
Caleb: I did not come here for revenge, Aurelius. I came to restore justice to my father's memory.
King Aurelius: You want my fortune? Take the trust funds! Take the gold in the vault!
Caleb: The wealth belongs to the people you starved and the families you displaced.
King Aurelius: I will sue the council! I will take this to the supreme tribunal!
Elder Senator: There is no court that will uphold a fraudulent crown, Aurelius. Guards, remove his robe and golden crown.
Two guards stepped forward immediately, taking the velvet cloak from Aurelius's shoulders as the former ruler stumbled backward into the stone wall.
King Aurelius: You will regret this day! All of you!
Caleb: The only regret here is that my father did not live to see this justice delivered.
