Daniel studied the photograph again. The man beside Amelia appeared to be wearing a wedding suit, and the setting looked strangely familiar.
Daniel: Where was this picture taken?
Amelia looked toward the floor.
Amelia: Years ago.
Daniel: That's not an answer.
A woman from the wedding guests stepped forward.
Guest: I recognize that place.
Daniel turned toward her.
Daniel: Where?
Guest: It was an old family property.
The little girl began crying again.
Little Girl: She promised nobody would find out.
Amelia immediately shook her head.
Amelia: Stop saying that!
Daniel raised his hand.
Daniel: Let her speak.
The little girl took a breath.
Little Girl: I found the photograph in a box.
Daniel: What else was in the box?
She looked at the envelope.
Little Girl: A letter.
Daniel pulled the letter from the envelope.
He read it silently.
His expression changed completely.
Daniel: Amelia, this letter says you were already married.
The guests gasped.
Amelia stepped backward.
Amelia: That marriage was over.
Daniel: You told me you had never been married.
Amelia: I was going to tell you.
Daniel: When?
She had no answer.
Daniel looked at the little girl.
Daniel: Is there anything else I need to know?
The girl slowly shook her head.
Little Girl: That's everything I found.
Amelia began crying.
Amelia: Daniel, please believe me. I was afraid you'd leave me.
Daniel looked at her with disappointment.
Daniel: You should have trusted me enough to tell me the truth.
