The music had stopped completely. Every guest stood frozen as Daniel removed the ring he had planned to place on Amelia's finger.
Daniel: I can't continue this wedding.
Amelia reached toward him.
Amelia: Please don't do this.
Daniel: I need the truth before I can make any promises.
Amelia dropped to the floor in tears as Daniel walked toward the mansion doors.
Several guests rushed forward, but Daniel stopped them.
Daniel: Give her some space.
The little girl stood quietly with the empty envelope in her hands.
Little Girl: I'm sorry.
Daniel crouched beside her.
Daniel: You don't need to apologize for telling the truth.
Amelia looked up.
Amelia: I never meant for this to happen.
Daniel: Neither did I.
He walked outside while the guests watched in silence.
Amelia followed him toward the doors, but stopped when she saw everyone staring.
Amelia: Daniel, please.
Daniel turned around.
Daniel: I need answers, not another promise.
He walked away from the mansion.
The little girl remained inside, holding the photograph that had exposed the secret.
The wedding was over, but the truth had finally come into the open.
And before Daniel could ever decide what came next, Amelia would have to explain why she had hidden such an important part of her past.
