The Maid at the Altar and the Forgotten Heir

The grand cathedral was decorated with millions of dollars in white orchids, but the air felt heavy and cold. Standing near the altar, Marcus adjusted his designer tuxedo, his eyes fixed on the massive diamond ring waiting in its velvet box. Today was supposed to be his ticket to complete control of the Montgomery estate, a multi-million-dollar empire built by his late grandfather.

Marcus: Make sure the press is seated on the left side. I want every business journal to capture this union.

Best Man: Everything is taken care of, Marcus. You’re minutes away from securing the entire trust fund.

Suddenly, a small seven-year-old boy in a beige suit broke away from the front row. Tears streamed down his face as he stared down the long marble aisle, his tiny shoulders shaking violently with grief and confusion.

Leo: Mommy! Mommy, where are you?!

Priest: Son, please sit down, the ceremony is beginning.

Leo: MOMMY!

Guest: Somebody grab that child! Whose boy is that?

Marcus turned, his face twisting into a scowl of pure irritation as the boy sprinted past the high-society guests toward the back corridor. The crowd gasped in shock, but before security could intervene, a young woman wearing a plain maid's uniform rushed into the hall, dropping a heavy silver tray onto the marble floor with a deafening crash.

Helena: I’m right here! I’ve got you, Leo!

The little boy threw his arms around her neck, weeping bitterly. Helena held him tight, but as her sleeve pulled back under the bright chandeliers, a massive diamond engagement ring flashed on her finger—a ring that Marcus recognized instantly. It was the priceless Montgomery heirloom that had gone missing seven years ago, the exact day his elder brother mysteriously vanished.
