Marcus: What is the meaning of this disruption? Get this maid out of my sight immediately!
Helena: Touch him and I swear you’ll regret it, Marcus.
Marcus: You... how do you know my name? Who gave you permission to speak to me like that?
Helena: Look at this child’s face, Marcus. Look at him closely before you throw us out of your grand wedding.
Marcus stepped down from the altar, his polished shoes clicking sharply against the marble floor. He glared at the young woman cradling the sobbing child. The guests whispered loudly behind their hands, leaning over the wooden pews to catch every word.
Best Man: Marcus, let security handle this. Your bride is about to walk down the aisle.
Marcus: Shut up for a second. You... maid. Where did you get that ring on your hand?
Helena: It belongs to me. It has belonged to me for eight years.
Marcus: That is a bold-faced lie! That ring was custom-made for the Montgomery family matriarch. It disappeared along with my brother Julian when he abandoned the family estate!
Helena: Julian didn’t abandon anyone, Marcus. And you know that better than anyone in this room.
Marcus: Security! Remove this crazy woman and her bastard child from the cathedral right now!
Leo: Don't hurt my mommy! Daddy said you were a bad man!
The entire cathedral fell dead silent. The high-society guests gasped, murmuring among themselves. Marcus froze in his tracks, his eyes shrinking as he stared down at the small boy who was now hiding behind Helena's white apron.
Marcus: What did that brat just say?
Helena: He said what his father taught him before he died. He knows who you are, Marcus. He knows what you took from us.
Priest: Heavens above... is this child Julian’s son?
Helena: Yes, Father. This is Leo Montgomery. The rightful heir to the Montgomery fortune and the sole beneficiary of the family trust fund.
Marcus: That’s impossible! Julian was single when he died in that car crash in Europe! He never had a wife, and he certainly never had a son!
Helena: He had both. We were married in secret right here in Dallas eight years ago, before you had him exiled and cut off from the family accounts.
Marcus: You’re a fake! A gold-digger looking for a payout! Do you really think anyone here believes a maid?
Helena: I became a maid at this event hall because I knew you were getting married here today, Marcus. I knew it was the only place where I could confront you in front of the press and the lawyers you paid off.
Best Man: Marcus... if this gets out, the stock value of Montgomery Holdings will plummet by fifty percent before market close.
Marcus: She’s bluffing! Show me a marriage certificate! Show me a DNA test! You have nothing!
Helena: I have something much better than paper, Marcus. I have Julian’s personal safe deposit key, and the original copy of his updated will notarized three days before his accident.
