An hour later, the entire household staff stood in a neat line in the grand foyer. Elena stood near the back in her plain maid uniform, holding her hands tightly together, feeling nervous about the sudden gathering.
Ethan: "Thank you all for coming. As you know, dramatic changes have taken place in this house over the last twenty-four hours."
Staff Member: "We’re so sorry for what happened, Mr. Vance. We had no idea Mrs. Vance was capable of such evil."
Ethan: "None of us did. But today is not about Victoria. Today is about justice, honor, and protecting what matters most."
Ethan walked over to where Elena was standing and gently took her hand, leading her to the center of the grand entrance hall.
Elena: "Mr. Vance? What is this about?"
Ethan: "Elena, yesterday you risked your life to save my son. You didn't do it for money, or recognition, or status. You did it because you have a good, noble heart."
Elena: "I just did what any decent person would do, sir."
Ethan: "No, Elena. You did what his own stepmother refused to do. And because of that, my late wife Clara’s true legacy is finally being honored."
Ethan handed the official legal document from the blue envelope over to Elena.
Elena: "What... what is this?"
Ethan: "That is a check for fifty million dollars from Clara’s trust fund, along with an official offer for full co-guardianship of baby Leo."
Elena gasped, her hands shaking so violently that the paper rustled in the quiet room. Tears welled up in her eyes as she stared at the astronomical figure on the paper.
Elena: "Fifty... million dollars? Mr. Vance, I... I can't accept this! This is too much!"
Ethan: "It is what Clara explicitly wanted for the woman who saved her baby. Your debts are fully paid, Elena. Your home is saved. You can finish your nursing degree, or you can build whatever life you dream of."
Elena: "I don't know what to say... I’m just a maid..."
Ethan: "You are not a maid anymore, Elena. You are Leo’s savior, and from this day forward, you are family."
Elena looked over at baby Leo, who reached out his tiny hands toward her from his crib, giggling happily. Tears of joy streamed down her face as she pulled the child close, knowing that their lives were forever changed, and that cruelty had finally been defeated by pure, unselfish love.
