The scorching afternoon sun beat down on the marble patio of the Sterling estate in Dallas, Texas. Water rippled in the Olympic-sized swimming pool, throwing bright reflections against the whitewashed brick walls decoratively draped with an American flag. It was supposed to be a quiet, routine afternoon, but the heavy silence hanging over the backyard felt suffocating.
Elena: Please, ma'am, just let me take him inside. The sun is getting too bright for his skin.
Veronica: Did I ask for your advice, Elena? Hand me my iced tea and stand back.
Elena lowered her head, stepping back toward the poolside loungers while holding the baby's fresh change of clothes. She had worked as a housemaid for the Sterling family for over two years, enduring Veronica’s bitter snarls and endless demands. Ever since Veronica moved into the mansion as Richard Sterling's new fiancée, the house had turned into a minefield. But Elena stayed because little Noah was only ten months old, and he needed someone who actually cared for him.
Veronica adjusted her designer sunglasses, leaning toward the baby stroller parked right at the edge of the deep end. Her face hardened with an unreadable malice. She glanced left, then right, checking the empty patio.
Veronica: You think you're going to secure his entire inheritance, little boy?
With a sudden, violent shove, Veronica pushed the stroller forward. The wheels squeaked against the slick tile, and the baby plunged straight into the deep water with a massive splash.
Elena: NO! NOAH!
Without a second thought, Elena kicked off her shoes and dove into the freezing pool. She kicked furiously toward the bottom, her eyes burning under the chlorinated water until her hands gripped the baby's tiny shirt. She pulled him up, thrashing toward the surface, gasping violently for air as she hauled the crying infant onto the poolside marble floor.
Footsteps pounded heavy against the stone pathway. The patio glass door slammed open with a deafening bang as Richard Sterling rushed out, his face pale with sudden horror.
Richard: WHAT HAPPENED TO MY SON?!
Veronica: Richard! Oh thank God! She pushed him in! I saw her do it with my own eyes!
Elena: What?! That's a complete lie!
Veronica: She tried to drown him, Richard! Fire her! Call the police right now!
Richard stared at the soaking maid kneeling on the cold floor, then at his screaming child, his eyes filled with shock and absolute confusion. He picked up his baby, wrapping him tightly in a dry towel, his hands shaking with panic.
Richard: Elena... is this true? Tell me right now!
Elena: Mr. Sterling, please, look at me. I would never hurt Noah. I have proof.
Drenched and shivering on her knees, Elena reached into her waterproof pocket and pulled out her smartphone. She tapped the screen, her thumbs trembling as she turned the display directly toward Richard. A crisp, high-definition video began to play back. The recording caught every single detail from where her phone was resting on the nearby tray table—Veronica looking around, stepping up to the stroller, and shoving the ten-month-old child straight into the pool.
Veronica: That's... that's a fake video! She edited it! Don't look at it, Richard!
Richard: Shut your mouth, Veronica.
Richard stepped closer, his jaw clenching as he watched the screen again. The color drained completely from his face, replaced by a sudden, terrifying fury.
Richard: You pushed my baby boy...
Veronica: Richard, baby, listen to me—
Before she could finish her sentence, Richard stepped forward and slapped Veronica hard across the face. The impact echoed off the concrete walls. Veronica gasped in utter disbelief, stumbling backward into the lounge chairs.
Richard: GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!
Veronica clutched her bruised cheek, her eyes wide with shock as Richard held his whimpering son close against his chest. But as Veronica scrambled backward, threatening to destroy the family name, Richard realized this wasn't just a simple act of hatred. There was a massive financial scheme behind her cruel action—one that involved a secret trust fund, a falsified will, and a hidden accomplice who was standing inside his house at that very moment.
