Arthur: Here is my personal business card, Clara. My assistant will call you tomorrow morning at nine to finalize your employment paperwork and arrange Lily's admission to the pediatric heart center.
Clara: I will be waiting by the phone, Mr. Pendelton. I won't let you down, I promise.
Arthur: I know you won't. Now, let's get you out of that uniform and get you home to your daughter.
Clara: She's going to be so happy when I tell her she doesn't have to worry about the hospital bills anymore.
Arthur: Tell her that her mother fought for her, and she won.
Clara walked out of the Rosewood Hotel ballroom with her head held high. For three years, she had walked through those doors feeling invisible, looked down upon by people who thought wealth made them superior.
As she stepped past the glass doors into the cool night air, she saw Evelyn and Julian standing by their car, waiting for a tow truck in the pouring rain, completely stripped of their status and pride.
Julian: Clara... please. Can you ask Mr. Pendelton to reconsider? We have nothing left!
Clara: I think Mr. Pendelton gave you exactly what you deserved, Julian. Maybe now you'll learn how it feels to stand in the rain.
Clara walked straight past them toward the bus stop, a bright smile on her face as she looked up at the Dallas skyline. She knew that the road ahead would still take hard work, but for the first time in years, her future was bright, secure, and full of hope.
