The cold marble floor of the Dallas luxury estate echoed with a sound no mother could ever forget—a sharp, horrifying gasp before a heavy bundle fell from the second-floor balcony railing.
Elena: No! Dear God, no!
Elena didn't think. The twenty-four-year-old maid lunged forward, her knees slamming hard against the polished tile as her hands reached out in absolute desperation. The blanketed bundle fell through the air, carrying the life of a seven-month-old baby girl.
With a desperate gasp, Elena cupped her hands tightly together just inches above the hard stone floor, catching the infant right before impact. Tears spilled over her freckled cheeks as she pressed the crying child against her chest, shuddering in pure terror.
Elena: I've got you... You're safe, sweet angel. You're safe.
The heavy double doors of the foyer burst open with a loud slam. Richard Vance, a prominent corporate attorney and heir to a multimillion-dollar Dallas real estate fortune, stepped inside, his designer suit rumpled from a long day at the firm.
Richard: What on earth is going on in here?! Why is the baby crying like that?
Before Elena could wipe the tears from her eyes, a sharp, screeching voice cut through the air from the balcony above. Victoria Vance stood at the railing, her face pale, her expensive silk gown rustling as she pointed a shaking finger downward.
Victoria: Richard! Thank God you're home! She tried to kill our baby! She dropped her from the balcony!
Richard: What?! Elena, did you drop my daughter?!
Elena: Mr. Vance, please! That's not what happened! I caught her! Mrs. Vance—
Richard: Don't you dare lie to me! Look at her! You're holding her on the floor! Get out of my house right now! I'm calling 911!
Elena's heart shattered as the law firm owner pulled out his phone, his eyes filled with rage while the real villain watched from above with a cruel, satisfied smirk.
