The Maid Who Saved the Heir

David: Maria, I don't even know what to say. I accused you of something unthinkable. I threatened you. I kicked you out into the street.

Maria: You were scared for your daughter, Mr. Vance. Victoria manipulated your fear.

David: That is no excuse. You saved my daughter's life, and I rewarded you with cruelty. I can never forgive myself for how I treated you.

Lawyer Marcus: David, Maria didn't come here tonight to destroy you. She came here to make sure Emma was safe from that monster.

David: I know. And I am forever in her debt.

David walked over to Maria, dropping to his knees right there on the gala stage in front of hundreds of high-society guests. He took Maria’s hand in his, tears falling freely onto her fingers.

David: Please, Maria. How can I ever make this right?

Maria: Stand up, Mr. Vance. You don't need to get on your knees. Just be the father that Emma needs you to be.

David: Effective immediately, I am firing the entire management staff that turned a blind eye to Victoria's actions. And Maria... I want to offer you a permanent position, not as a maid, but as the chief manager of the Vance Family Estate and trustee guardian for Emma.

Maria: Mr. Vance, I... I don't know what to say.

David: You will have full authority over the household, a salary of two hundred thousand dollars a year, and a full legal trust fund set up for your own children’s college education.

Lawyer Marcus: That's a fair start, brother. But what about the trust fund restructuring?

David: Marcus and I are transferring ten percent of the family business shares directly into a holding account for Maria. You saved our family's future, Maria. You deserve to be part of it.

Three months later, the Vance estate was filled with light and warmth once again. The dark memory of Victoria’s betrayal was replaced by the sound of baby Emma laughing in the courtyard garden. Victoria was facing twenty-five years in state prison without the possibility of parole, her schemes completely ruined.

Maria stood on the balcony where the nightmare had begun, looking down at the foyer. She was wearing a professional suit, overseeing the new estate staff with kindness and dignity. David walked up behind her, holding Emma in his arms, handing the happy little girl to Maria.

David: She was asking for you all morning.

Maria: Come here, sweet girl. You're safe now. Nobody is ever going to hurt you again.

David: Thank you, Maria. For saving my baby, and for saving me.

Maria held Emma close, smiling as the sun shone down over the estate, knowing that justice had finally prevailed and truth had built a brand new home.
