FABLE

The Maid Who Saved the Heir

The white marble floor of the Dallas mansion was cold, but coldness was nothing new in this house. Ever since the old CEO passed away, leaving his vast estate and luxury empire in limbo, tension had filled every room. Evelyn had worked as a housekeeper here for two years, quietly polishing silver and sweeping grand halls. She knew the family secrets, but she had always kept her head down to protect her job and support her own family.

Victoria: Move another step and I drop her!

Evelyn: Please, Mrs. Vance! She is just a baby!

Evelyn looked up at the high balcony, her heart pounding against her ribs. Victoria stood near the carved wooden railing, holding three-year-old Lily over the empty air. The child’s tiny fingers clutched at the air, crying softly, unaware of the massive trust fund and inheritance that made her a target.

Victoria: She takes everything from me! If Arthur’s will stands, this brat gets the entire estate and I get nothing!

Evelyn: Put her down! You can take the money, just don't hurt the child!

Victoria: It's too late for talk!

Victoria's hands unclasped. Time seemed to stop as the little girl fell from the balcony. Evelyn did not hesitate. Dropping her rag, she threw her body across the slick marble floor, extending her arms in sheer desperation as the shadow fell from above.

The sudden sound of heavy footsteps echoed from the grand entrance, but Evelyn could only focus on the tiny life descending toward the hard stone below.
