Evelyn stepped closer, her heels clicking sharply against the polished oak floorboards of the high-ceiling hall. Her face was cold and unyielding, reflecting years of ruthless corporate litigation experience.
Evelyn: Hand over that paper, Julian. We can settle this quietly without involving the probate judge.
Julian: This is a legally binding trust amendment written in my father's own hand. You are committing fraud.
Evelyn: Fraud is a strong word for simply ensuring my client receives her rightful share of the fortune.
Julian reached into his jacket pocket, attempting to pull out his phone to call Officer Davis back inside. Evelyn moved surprisingly fast, lunging forward to grab the rolled parchment directly out of Julian's hand.
Julian ducked sideways, shoving the heavy bronze armillary sphere into her path to block her movement. The metal globe spun rapidly on its pedestal, its gear mechanisms whirring with a loud metallic hum.
Evelyn: Give it to me! You won't leave this hall with that document!
Julian: Get your hands off me!
Julian slapped her hands away firmly, stepping back toward the framed USA flag hanging on the far wall. He raised his voice, shouting as loudly as he could toward the front entrance doors.
Julian: Officer Davis! I need police assistance in the main hall immediately!
Evelyn sneered, pulling a small electronic signal jammer from her coat and tossing it onto the sofa. She knew the thick wooden doors and heavy masonry walls blocked normal acoustic sounds from reaching the driveway.
Evelyn: No one can hear you in this soundproof fortress. Hand over the paper now!
She grabbed Julian by his lapels, tearing his dark navy shirt as she tried to wrestle the document away. Julian struggled against her grip, keeping his arm locked high above his head to protect the paper.
