Morning light slowly filtered through the narrow wooden cracks, illuminating dust floating in the damp cabin air.
Mark stood up carefully, stretching his stiff arms after sleeping against the hard wooden floor all night.
Chloe: Is the storm finally over outside, Mark?
Mark: The rain stopped completely, but it looks very foggy outside today.
He stepped toward the heavy front door and slowly turned the iron latch with a low creak.
Birds were singing softly in the distance, but the surrounding forest looked completely ruined and dark.
Mark opened the wooden door fully and stepped out onto the damp porch, his eyes widening in shock.
Mark: Oh no, you need to come look at this right now.
Chloe hurried outside to stand beside him, gasping as she saw the destruction covering the main path.
Massive pine trees had collapsed during the night, shattering into huge pieces across the entire paved walkway.
Broken branches and thick mounds of green pine needles completely blocked the road leading toward the park exit.
Mark: The path is completely blocked in every single direction!
Chloe: How are we supposed to get back to our car now?
She took a step down the wooden stairs, staring helplessly at the giant wall of fallen timber.
The fallen trunks stretched deep into the surrounding brush, creating an impassable barrier around the entire clearing.
Mark: We might be able to climb over some of these smaller branches carefully.
Chloe: That looks far too dangerous with all those sharp broken limbs everywhere.
She turned around to look at the surrounding woods, realizing how far they were from any help.
Chloe: We're completely trapped here, Mark!
Mark: Calm down, someone from the park ranger station will clear this path soon.
Chloe: What if nobody comes down this trail for days because it's blocked off?
Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked at the thick wall of fallen green trees.
Mark: I won't let us stay trapped out here without finding a way back.
Chloe: Look at these massive trunks, we can't move them on our own!
Mark walked toward the nearest fallen pine trunk and pushed against it with all his strength fruitlessly.
The heavy wood did not move even an inch under his weight, remaining firmly wedged against the ground.
Mark: You're right, this wood is way too heavy for us to shift alone.
They stood together in front of the small wooden cabin, feeling smaller than ever before in the vast forest.
