Helen: You were stupid, Sarah! You panicked and ran like a frightened child!
Sarah: What was I supposed to do, Mom?! Mark smashed the wall with a sledgehammer! The girl pointed right at it!
Helen: You should have handled the kid! You should have kept that wardrobe secured months ago!
Inside the grand library of the Montgomery estate in Fort Worth, Sarah paced back and forth near the marble fireplace, her hands shaking uncontrollably as she gulped down a glass of scotch. Helen stood behind a dark oak desk, calmly feeding stacks of financial ledger papers into a heavy-duty paper shredder.
Sarah: The police arrested Vance! Do you understand what that means? He’s going to talk to save his own career!
Helen: Vance knows nothing that can directly link me to the physical confinement. He took cash payments under the table for altered police reports. That's all.
Sarah: And what about the money? The five million dollars from Clara's trust? It’s in our shared offshore accounts!
Helen: Which is why you are leaving the country tonight. I have a private flight chartered out of Alliance Airport at midnight.
Suddenly, the heavy double oak doors of the library slammed open. Mark stepped into the room, followed closely by State Prosecutor David and six armed Texas State Troopers with drawn handguns.
State Trooper: State Police! Keep your hands where we can see them! Step away from the shredder!
Helen: What is the meaning of this intrusion?! Mark, have you lost your mind bringing police into my home?
Mark: It's over, Helen. Clara spoke to the state prosecutors an hour ago.
Sarah: Mark... please... let me explain... my mother forced me into this!
Mark: Shut your mouth, Sarah! You kept my sister trapped in a dark hole behind a drywall for three years while you spent her money on luxury cars and vacation houses!
Helen: You have no proof of any financial impropriety, Mark. My accounting firm operates under strict legal standards.
David: We have a signed search and seizure warrant for this entire property, Mrs. Montgomery. Including that safe behind your desk.
Helen’s cold, arrogant posture faltered for the very first time. She glanced nervously toward the corner of the room where a steel safe sat embedded inside the mahogany wall paneling.
State Trooper: Open the safe, ma'am. Or we bring in the breaching squad to cut it open right now.
Helen: You are making a massive legal mistake...
David: Open it. Now.
With trembling hands, Helen stepped toward the safe and entered the six-digit combination. The heavy door clicked open. David stepped forward with rubber gloves, pulling out thick bundles of offshore banking records, property deeds, and a yellowed parchment document bearing the official seal of Mark and Clara's late father.
David: Here it is. The original, un-amended last will and testament of Arthur Miller. Leaving 100% of the estate assets directly to Clara Miller.
Mark: You stole everything from my family. And you used my own wife to turn my life into a living nightmare.
Sarah: Mark, please! I love you! I did it for our future, for Lily!
Mark: Don't you dare bring my daughter's name into your mouth. You will never see her again.
State Trooper: Helen Montgomery and Sarah Miller, you are under arrest for aggravated kidnapping, grand larceny, conspiracy, and obstruction of justice.
The troopers pulled Sarah and Helen's arms behind their backs, snapping metal handcuffs tightly onto their wrists as Sarah broke down into hysterical sobs. Mark stood tall, watching in stony silence as the two women who had destroyed his family were led out of the mansion in shame.
