Sarah: Grandparent visitation rights?! Can she even do that in Texas?
Mark: She's using her money and power to force her way into our lives. If we sign this trust, we give her legal custody control. If we don't, she sues us for visitation!
Sarah: That manipulative monster! She sat on our sofa, drank my tea, and smiled at our boy while planning to take us to court!
Mark: She thought I was still that scared twenty-two-year-old kid who needed her allowance to pay for rent.
Liam: Mommy sad?
Sarah: No, baby. Mommy is very, very angry.
Mark: Pack Liam's diaper bag, Sarah.
Sarah: What are you going to do?
Mark: We are driving straight to the River Oaks estate right now. We are putting an end to this tonight.
Thirty minutes later, Mark's modest sedan pulled up to the massive iron gates of the Crawford mansion in Houston's wealthiest neighborhood. The gates opened automatically as the security system recognized Mark's license plate. Mark parked right on the circular brick driveway, next to Eleanor's gleaming luxury sedan.
Sarah: Mark, stay calm. Don't let her provoke you.
Mark: I'm not calm, Sarah. I am deliberate.
Mark grabbed the envelope, unbuckled Liam from his car seat, and held him firmly in his arms as they walked up the grand stone steps. He didn't bother ringing the doorbell; he pushed open the unlocked heavy mahogany front doors and stepped right into the marble foyer.
Eleanor: Mark? What a pleasant surprise to see you back in my home.
Eleanor Crawford stepped out from the formal dining room, wearing an elegant silk blouse, holding a crystal glass of red wine in her right hand.
Mark: Cut the act, Eleanor. We know why you came to our house yesterday.
Eleanor: I simply went to visit my grandson. Is a mother not allowed to see her own family?
Mark: You went behind my back to trick my wife into signing away our legal parental rights!
Eleanor: Oh, don't be dramatic, Mark. You are living in a tiny suburban house, drowning in a mortgage, struggling to raise my grandson on a mid-level manager's salary!
Sarah: We are doing just fine without your dirty money, Eleanor!
Eleanor: Fine? You call living paycheck to paycheck fine? I am offering this boy a legacy! A multi-million dollar estate, private Ivy League education, and a real future!
Mark: You're not offering him a future, Eleanor. You're trying to buy another child because you couldn't control the first one!
