The Arrival of the Chief

Thrown Into the Mansion Pool

The distant sound of sirens began to cut through the quiet suburban neighborhood. Victoria's breathing became shallow as she gripped the back of an outdoor lounge chair, her knuckles turning white. She reached into her designer handbag and pulled out her phone, frantically tapping the screen.

Victoria: Richard... answer the phone! Pick up right now!

Sarah: Go ahead, call him. Call my ex-husband. Let's see if his money can rewrite high-definition security video.

Victoria: Richard, it's me! You need to get home right away! Sarah is here, she's attacking me and making up insane stories to the police!

Sarah: Tell him the truth, Victoria! Tell him your camera caught you trying to drown his youngest daughter!

Victoria: Shut up, Sarah! Richard, please hurry! She hit me! She slapped me in front of the staff!

The gates at the front of the driveway swung open with a heavy mechanical groan. Two police cruisers pulled into the circular driveway, their red and blue lights flashing against the white columns of the mansion. A tall officer stepped out of the lead car, adjusting his belt as he walked toward the backyard patio.

Officer Davis: Ma'am, we received a 911 call regarding a child safety emergency. Everyone stay where you are.

Victoria: Officer! Thank God you're here! This woman trespassed on my private property and physically assaulted me!

Sarah: Officer, my name is Sarah. I'm the mother of this child. This woman pushed my daughter into the deep end of the pool.

Officer Davis: Is the child okay? Does she need immediate medical care?

Elena: She's shivering violently, sir. I pulled her out, but she breathed in some water and won't stop crying.

Officer Davis: Paramedics are right behind us. Ma'am, drop the phone and step away from the pool edge.

Victoria: You don't understand, Officer. I'm Victoria Miller. My husband owns Miller Logistics. We host charity galas with the mayor!

Officer Davis: I don't care who your husband is, ma'am. Right now I need to determine if a crime was committed against a minor.

Sarah: The whole thing was caught on the mansion's surveillance system, Officer. The cameras are active and facing the pool area directly.

Victoria: The system is private property! You can't look at those files without a warrant!

Officer Davis: If a child's life was put in danger, we can secure the recording equipment immediately to prevent evidence tampering. Where is the main control unit?

Elena: Right inside the main study, Officer. I can lead you straight to it.

Victoria: Elena, don't you dare touch that door!

Sarah: She's terrified because she knows what that tape shows. Take a look at her face, Officer. Does that look like an innocent woman?
