A Father's Realization

Wealthy CEO Forcing Children to Study Realizes His Mistake

The early morning sun began to break through the dark storm clouds, casting a soft golden light through the high foyer windows. Richard sat at the long dining room table, but this time, the heavy textbooks were completely gone. In their place sat warm breakfast plates, fresh fruit juice, and casual morning newspapers.

He had spent the entire night speaking with Eleanor, offering sincere apologies and agreeing to seek professional family therapy together. The long road to healing her deep trauma would be challenging, but for the first time in years, there was a genuine spark of hope in her eyes.

The six children walked down the stairs slowly, hesitant and quiet as they approached the dining area.

Richard: Good morning, everyone. Please, come sit down and eat breakfast.

Younger Daughter: Do we have to take our weekly exam first, Dad?

Richard's heart sank at the fear in her quiet voice, reinforcing the reality of how deeply he had mismanaged his home.

Richard: No more mandatory morning exams, sweetheart. No more endless study pressure.

The children looked at each other in utter shock, slowly taking their seats around the large dining table.

Richard: I made a terrible mistake in how I managed this household and raised you all.

Marcus stepped into the room, standing beside his father's chair with a cautious look on his face.

Richard: I believed that money and high academic titles were the only things that mattered in life.

Marcus: What changed your mind, Dad?

Richard: Seeing the unbearable pain in your eyes last night made me realize I was wrong.

Richard stood up from his chair and turned toward his eldest son, his expression softening completely into genuine warmth.

Richard: You are my son, Marcus, not a corporate asset or project to be perfected.

He leaned down and gently pulled Marcus into a tight, warm hug, holding him close as tears filled both of their eyes.

Richard: I am so proud of who you are, right now, just as you are.

Marcus let out a deep breath he felt like he had been holding for years, leaning into his father's embrace as the long emotional barrier between them dissolved entirely.

Marcus: Thank you, Dad... that's all I ever wanted to hear from you.

The younger children smiled, the cold tension in the room instantly melting away under the warm morning sunlight filtering through the windows.
