Evelyn: What are you talking about? Nobody else was in the foyer!
Arthur: Mrs. Gable!
The heavy kitchen door pushed open slowly, revealing the elderly housekeeper holding a silver tray. Her hands were shaking so hard the tea glasses rattled against the metal.
Mrs. Gable: I... I heard the screaming, Mr. Sterling.
Arthur: Did you see them on the upper landing before the fall?
Mrs. Gable: I was bringing up the fresh linens, sir. I was standing in the hall near the master suite.
Evelyn: Martha, don't you dare say a word. Remember who pays your salary in this house!
Arthur: I pay her salary, Evelyn. This estate and every trust fund attached to it belongs to the Sterling name.
Mrs. Gable: I saw Mrs. Sterling holding the young lady's wrists near the railing. The girl was crying, asking to go down.
Evelyn: She's an old woman with bad eyesight! She couldn't see anything clearly from that distance!
Mrs. Gable: My eyes are just fine, ma'am. I saw you pry her little fingers off the top wood bar.
Evelyn: You treacherous old liar!
Arthur: That's enough!
Arthur reached into his jacket and pulled out his cell phone, his thumb tapping the screen quickly.
Evelyn: Who are you calling?
Arthur: Emergency services. And then my lead legal counsel.
Evelyn: Arthur, stop! We can talk about this! Think about the family reputation, think about the press!
Arthur: You tried to murder my daughter for a settlement and an inheritance share.
Evelyn: It was an accident! A tragic accident!
Arthur: The police will decide what it was. Operator? I need an ambulance at 404 Willow Creek Lane immediately. My child has fallen from a balcony.
Evelyn: Cancel the call! Tell them it's fine!
Arthur: And send police units. We have an attempted homicide in progress.
