Elena quickly pulled her phone from her apron pocket and dialed emergency services, her voice steady as she reported the incident to the Dallas police dispatcher. Meanwhile, Victoria descended the stairs slowly, her mask of innocence completely shattered, replaced by a cold, spiteful glare.
Victoria: You're making a massive mistake, Marcus. No judge in this state will take the word of a toddler and a low-paid maid over mine.
Marcus: We'll see about that when the police review the security footage.
Victoria's eyes widened in sudden panic, her mouth opening slightly as her confidence evaporated entirely.
Victoria: What... what security footage? The cameras in the hallway aren't working!
Marcus: I had new high-definition motion cameras installed in the upper hallway last Tuesday, Victoria. The ones connected directly to my phone's cloud server.
Elena: I saw Mr. Vance installing them myself, Mrs. Vance.
Victoria: You... you didn't tell me about any cameras!
Marcus: Why would I need to tell my wife about home security, unless she had something horrifying to hide?
Marcus pulled out his smartphone, tapped the screen a few times, and brought up the live video playback. On the clear screen, the video showed Victoria standing over the stroller at the top of the stairs. It clearly captured her looking around, placing both hands on the handlebars, and giving the carriage a firm, heavy push forward before stepping back with a cold look on her face.
Marcus: Look at this! Look at what you did to my baby!
Victoria: Delete that, Marcus! Delete it right now!
Marcus: Touch this phone and I'll make sure you never see the light of day again.
Victoria lunged forward, reaching out her long red nails to grab the phone from Marcus's hand. But Elena stepped in between them, firmly blocking Victoria's path with her body.
Elena: Don't touch him, Mrs. Vance. Back away.
Victoria: Get out of my way, you pathetic servant! This family business has nothing to do with you!
Elena: My job was to protect this house and this child, and I did my job today. You failed yours.
Victoria: You ruined everything! I was supposed to secure the inheritance! I was supposed to be the only heir to the Vance estate!
Marcus: So that was your grand plan? Kill my biological daughter, claim her trust fund, and divorce me later?
Victoria: You cared more about that brat than you ever cared about me!
The distant sound of police sirens began to echo down the long driveway leading to the Dallas mansion. Victoria spun around toward the front door, realizing her time was running out rapidly.
Victoria: Marcus, please! We can work this out! Don't let them take me away!
Marcus: The only place you're going is a cell, Victoria.
