The flashing red and blue lights of two Dallas police cruisers illuminated the high glass windows of the mansion's foyer. Two uniformed officers rushed through the unlocked double doors, their hands resting cautiously near their belts as they took in the high-tension scene.
Officer Davis: Police! Everyone stay where you are! Who called 911?
Marcus: I did, officer. I'm Marcus Vance. My wife just attempted to murder my one-year-old daughter.
Victoria: That's a lie! Officers, he struck me! Look at my face! He assaulted me!
Officer Davis: Ma'am, calm down and step away from the gentleman. Officer Miller, secure the perimeter.
Officer Miller: Understood. Ma'am, keep your hands where we can see them.
Victoria: You don't understand! My husband is framing me with his maid! They're having an affair and trying to steal my money!
Elena: That is completely false, officers! I am just the house maid. Mrs. Vance deliberately pushed the stroller down the stairs to harm little Lily!
Officer Davis: Do you have any proof of these claims, Mr. Vance?
Marcus: I have crisp, clear 4K video footage from my security system right here on my phone. It caught her entire action on tape five minutes ago.
Marcus handed his phone directly to Officer Davis. The officer watched the footage, his expression hardening as he watched Victoria deliberately shove the stroller toward the steep drop.
Officer Davis: Step back, ma'am. Put your hands behind your back right now.
Victoria: No! You can't arrest me! Do you know who my family is?! My lawyer will have your badge!
Officer Miller: You have the right to remain silent, Mrs. Vance. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.
Officer Miller grabbed Victoria's wrists, snapping heavy steel handcuffs around her hands. Victoria thrashed against the officer's grip, her hair falling wildly over her red face as she was forcefully pulled toward the entrance.
Victoria: Marcus! Tell them to stop! You can't do this to me! I'm your wife!
Marcus: You ceased being my wife the moment you harmed my child. Get her out of my sight.
Victoria: You'll pay for this, Elena! You hear me?! You'll regret catching that stroller!
Elena: I would do it a thousand times over to save a child's life, Victoria.
The officers escorted the screaming woman out the front door, shoving her into the back seat of the police car before slamming the door shut. The loud sirens began to fade into the distance as the cruiser sped down the estate driveway, leaving behind a silence that was finally peaceful.
