FABLE

Her Husband Believed The Lie Until A Secret Recording Revealed Everything

The pristine white marble floor of the foyer echoed with the sharp, frantic slap of footsteps. Sarah didn't think; she moved on pure instinct, throwing her body across the hard tile with her arms stretched wide.

Sarah: I’ve got you! You're safe, sweetie, I’ve got you!

The tiny infant sobbed against her chest, her little heart hammering frantically against Sarah's apron. Tears stung Sarah’s eyes as she wrapped her arms tighter around the baby, trembling from the sheer terror of what had almost happened.

Victoria: She tried to kill our baby! She dropped her!

Sarah gasped, pushing herself up from the cold floor as heavy leather dress shoes thundered through the front entrance. David stood in the grand doorway, his breath catching in his throat as his eyes darted from his hysterically crying wife at the top of the balcony to the nanny lying on the marble below.

David: What the hell just happened here?! Is Maya okay?!

Victoria: David, get her out! She deliberately pushed Maya over the railing! I saw her do it with my own eyes!

Sarah: Mr. Sterling, please! That’s not true! Mrs. Sterling dropped her, I caught her before she hit the tile!

David: Don't you dare lie to me! How could you put my daughter in danger?!

David stepped forward, his face contorted in absolute rage. Before Sarah could even raise her hand in defense, the crack of his hand against her cheek echoed off the high ceilings of the estate.

Sarah: Ah!

Sarah stumbled back against the white wall, her hand instantly clutching her red, burning cheek as tears overflowed down her face. She looked up at the man she had respected for two years, unable to speak through the sheer shock of his betrayal.

David: Get out of my house right now! Call 911! Get this monster out of my sight before I kill her myself!

Sarah: David, please... listen to me for one second...

David: Get out!

Sarah clutched the baby close one last time before David yanked his daughter from her arms, his eyes burning with pure malice. As Sarah was shoved out the front doors into the pouring rain, she knew that the truth was buried deep inside that house—and she was the only one who could dig it up.
