Agent Miller: Clara Vance? You are under arrest for federal bank fraud, wire fraud, and grand larceny.
Clara: What?! No! This is a private family matter! This is about an inheritance dispute and a home mortgage!
Agent Miller: It stopped being a private matter when you transferred four million dollars out of Sarah's father's corporate account using fake power-of-attorney documents.
Sarah: Four million dollars? Clara... you told me my dad died in debt! You told me there was no life insurance left!
Clara: He left me everything! I was his legal wife!
Ethan: Show her the papers, Officer.
Agent Miller: Ma'am, we have the original will signed by Arthur Vance three weeks before his passing. The will explicitly leaves fifty percent of the estate, the Dallas property, and the family investment portfolio directly to his biological daughter, Sarah.
Clara: That will was revoked! I have the updated legal document right inside my desk!
Ethan: You mean the document you signed using a forged notary stamp? The notary testified yesterday in court, Clara. She admitted you paid her fifty thousand dollars to fake the signature.
Clara stood frozen on the driveway as the federal agents stepped closer. The sun was hot against her skin, but a cold shiver ran down her spine. The neighbors down the street were already looking out from their lawns, watching the widow of Arthur Vance get cornered in broad daylight.
Clara: Sarah, please! You have to tell them to stop! I raised you after your father got sick! I took care of this house!
Sarah: You didn't take care of anything, Clara. You isolated my father from his doctors. You kept his phone away from me during his final weeks at the hospital!
Clara: I did that to protect him from the stress! You were always asking for money for your little business!
Ethan: She wasn't asking for money, Clara. She was trying to pay off his medical bills while you were transferring his retirement funds into private shell companies in Nevada!
Sarah: How could you treat my father like a cash machine while he was dying?
Clara: He loved me! He wanted me to have the lifestyle I deserved!
Agent Miller: Hands behind your back, ma'am. You have the right to remain silent.
Clara: Don't touch me! Ethan, tell them to stop! I'll give you back the house! I'll drop the eviction proceedings immediately!
Ethan: It's way too late for negotiations, Clara. The judge signed the freeze order on all your bank accounts two hours ago. You don't own a single cent in that driveway.
Lily: Mommy, is the lady going to jail now?
Sarah: Yes, sweetie. She's never going to hurt us or take our home again.
Clara screamed as the metallic click of handcuffs echoed across the quiet neighborhood. She was led toward the back seat of the black federal vehicle, her face red with anger and embarrassment. But as the car door slammed shut, Ethan turned back toward his wife with a grim expression.
Sarah: Ethan... how did you find out about the notary? I thought we lost everything when the foreclosure letter arrived yesterday.
Ethan: That foreclosure letter was fake, Sarah. Clara typed it herself to scare you into walking away without a lawyer. But there's something else we need to look at right now inside your father's private office.
