Sarah: Co-conspirators? Who else was involved in this scheme?
Ethan: Look at the signature on those fraudulent wire transfer receipts we found in the filing cabinet.
Sarah: This... this is Uncle Marcus's signature! My father's own brother?
Ethan: Marcus wasn't trying to help Clara manage the estate tax returns. He was helping her empty the business accounts so they could split the liquidation assets fifty-fifty.
Sarah: I trusted Uncle Marcus! He was the one who told me to sign the surrender agreement for the house last week! He said it was the only way to save my father's business from debt!
Ethan: He tried to trick you into signing away your legal rights as the primary heir. If you had signed that surrender agreement, Clara and Marcus would have legally owned every asset without needing the court's approval.
Sarah: That's why Clara tried to slap me and kick me out today! She wanted me to leave before the federal agents served the subpoena on Marcus!
Ethan: Exactly. Marcus thought he was safe sitting in his downtown law firm right now. But the federal agents aren't just arresting Clara today.
The sound of heavy tires crunching on the driveway outside interrupted Ethan's words. Sarah walked over to the large bay window overlooking the front entrance. Another dark vehicle had pulled up behind the gates, followed by a local sheriff's department patrol car.
Sarah: Who is that getting out of the car?
Ethan: That's your Uncle Marcus. The federal agents picked him up at his office twenty minutes ago and brought him here to verify the seized assets in person.
Sarah stared out the window as Marcus was led toward the front doorstep in handcuffs. His expensive suit was crumpled, his hair disheveled, and he kept his head low to avoid looking at the cameras a local news crew was already holding near the front gate.
Marcus: Sarah! Sarah, please come down here! You have to tell them this is a huge misunderstanding between family members!
Sarah closed her eyes for a brief moment, letting out a deep breath she felt like she had been holding for years. She looked down at the handwritten note from her late father, reading the final sentence written at the bottom of the page: *"Do not yield to them, Sarah. Protect your daughter, protect your legacy, and enforce the law."*
Sarah: I'm coming down, Marcus. But not to help you.
She turned toward Ethan, her eyes clear and full of determination for the first time since her father's passing.
Sarah: Let's go finish this once and for all.
