The heavy front doors of the mansion closed, leaving a profound silence inside the grand living room. Sarah sat on the soft velvet sofa, wrapped tightly around little Lily, who was fast asleep, breathing softly against her mother's chest.
Richard: Sarah... I don't even know what to say. I was so blind. I let that evil woman into our lives and put our innocent child in danger.
Sarah: You were blind because you let your ego take over after our divorce, Richard. But right now, all that matters is that Lily is safe.
Richard: I am signing over full legal and physical custody of Lily to you immediately. No conditions, no court battles. She belongs with you.
Mark: I will draft the sole custody agreements tonight, Mr. Miller. You will also be required to establish an irrevocable trust fund for Lily's future medical and educational expenses, managed exclusively by Sarah.
Richard: Anything she needs. Whatever it takes to make this right. I will liquidate my personal investment portfolio to fund the trust tomorrow morning.
Sarah looked over at Maria, who was standing quietly near the doorway, holding a warm blanket and a cup of tea for Sarah.
Sarah: Maria... come here, please.
Maria: Is the baby doing alright, ma'am?
Sarah: She is sleeping soundly thanks to you. Maria, you saved my daughter's life today without hesitating for even a second. You risked your own safety jumping into that pool.
Maria: I only did what any human heart would do, Ms. Sarah. I couldn't stand by and let harm come to little Lily.
Richard: Maria, you are no longer a maid in this house. Starting today, I want to offer you a permanent position as Lily's primary private supervisor, with a salary three times what you are making now, full medical benefits, and housing provided by my company.
Maria: Oh... Mr. Miller, I don't know what to say... Thank you so much!
Sarah: You deserve so much more than that, Maria. You are family now.
Sarah looked down at her daughter's peaceful face, feeling a deep sense of relief washing over her heart. The terror of the afternoon had ended, justice had been served, and her precious baby was finally safe in her arms.
Sarah: The storm is over, baby girl. Mommy is never going to let anyone hurt you again.
