Mark: Are you out of your mind?! That is my own son lying in that bassinet!
Elena: A son whose life stood between you and a fifty-million-dollar inheritance payout!
Toby: He did not just delay the ambulance, Elena. Look inside this envelope.
Toby pulled a thick stack of legal documents and medical records from his blue backpack, slapping them onto the glass table.
Mark: Do not touch those papers!
Elena snatched the top document before Mark’s arm could reach across the table.
Elena: What is this? "Application for Non-Intervention and Palliative Comfort Care"?!
Dr. Harrison: Mr. Vance presented that document to our triage desk at six this morning, Mrs. Vance.
Elena: You signed a Do Not Resuscitate order on our four-day-old son?!
Mark: The prognosis was grim! The doctors said his brain might suffer massive oxygen deprivation!
Dr. Harrison: I never said that, Mr. Vance. I told you early intervention would ensure a full recovery.
Mark: You are twisting my words to save your own skin, Harrison!
Elena: You signed a death warrant for my baby while I was recovering from surgery in the recovery wing!
Mark stepped forward, his eyes narrowing into cold, venomous slits.
Mark: Do you have any idea what happens if this estate slips out of my hands? The mortgage on our penthouse is three months behind!
Elena: We live in a ten-million-dollar luxury penthouse! How could it be behind?!
Mark: Because the board removed me as CEO six weeks ago! I have nothing left without my father’s unconditional trust!
Toby: Grandfather knew you would ruin everything. That is why he gave Mom the master key to the bank vault.
Mark: Your mother was a waitress when I married her! She does not know how to run an international corporation!
Toby: She does not run it. The legal board does. And today, she gave me the authorization to act on Leo’s behalf.
Mark: You are a minor! You have zero standing in any American court!
Toby: Read page four, Mark.
Elena turned the crisp white page, her eyes widening as she scanned the legal stamps and official seals.
Elena: "In the event of medical negligence or bad faith by Mark Vance, full legal guardianship of minor heirs passes to Sarah Vance and the court-appointed trustee."
Mark: That clause is invalid! My lawyers filed an injunction last Tuesday!
Toby: The judge threw it out this morning at eight o’clock.
Mark lunged toward Toby, knocking over a leather chair.
Mark: You ruined my life! Give me those documents right now!
Elena stepped directly into his path, her hand swinging through the air with explosive force.
The sharp crack of her palm across Mark’s cheek echoed through the quiet room.
Elena: Touch him again and I will make sure you spend the rest of your pathetic life behind bars!
