The Shadow in the Foyer

The Broken Glass at the Charity Gala The crystal chandeliers of the grand estate

Victor: Well, well. Quite a mess you've made here, Richard.

The man unbuttoned his suit jacket slowly, revealing a vest missing a single gold button from its right pocket. His cold eyes scanned the room with terrifying calm.

Richard: Victor... What are you doing in my house?

Victor: I came to pay my respects to the family business. But it seems your little party had a slight accident.

Victor: YOU MISSED. CALL 911 RIGHT NOW! 🇺🇸

The entire room gasped. Victor leaned forward, glaring at Richard with venom in his voice while ignoring the frantic crowd.

Richard: You tried to sabotage the display to crush me while I stood under the balcony!

Victor: You should have signed over the inheritance rights to the estate when you had the chance, dear brother. Now your little waitress friend here got in the way of a very lucrative settlement.

Clara: Brother? You tried to kill your own family over money?

Victor: Keep your mouth shut, peasant. You were never supposed to survive that drop either.

Richard: You monster! My son was under that glass!

Victor: Collateral damage. A shame, really. But who would suspect a tragedy at a charity gala?

Victor motioned with his hand, and his two massive bodyguards stepped forward, blocking the main exit doors so no one could leave the mansion.

Guest C: Someone call the police! They've locked us in!

Victor: Nobody is calling anyone. The cell jammers in my car are already active. We are going to sit down like adults and sign the trust fund transfer right now.

Clara: Richard... the gold button. Look at the back of it!

Richard flipped the button over in his palm. On the back, etched into the metal, was a micro serial number matching a high-end personal security firm in the city.

Richard: This button links directly to your private security team's contract. The court lawsuit will destroy you for this, Victor!

Victor: Only if you live to present it to a judge!

Victor reached into his coat, pulling out a small black device. But before he could press the button on it, Clara acted on pure instinct. She grabbed a heavy brass candleholder from a nearby side table and lunged forward with all her strength.
