Chloe: It’s finally over...
Carter: It’s over, Chloe. She’ll never touch you or Lily again.
Chloe held Lily closer as the baby let out a small sigh and drifted off to sleep against her shoulder. The heavy front doors closed, shutting out the noise of the sirens and the flashing lights.
Carter: Are you sure you’re alright? That slap was brutal.
Chloe: My cheek stings, but my heart feels lighter than it has in four years. Julian can finally rest in peace.
Carter: The lawyers are already filing the paperwork to transfer the full title of the estate into your name. By tomorrow morning, every bank account tied to the Vance trust fund will be under your direct control.
Chloe: I don't care about the mansions or the luxury cars, Carter. I just wanted justice for my husband and safety for our daughter.
Carter: I know. But Julian wanted you to have the life you were robbed of. This entire estate belongs to you and Lily now.
Chloe: What about the rest of the family business?
Carter: With Victoria out of the way, the board of directors unanimous voted to reinstate the original corporate charter. You hold the majority voting power as Julian’s primary heir.
Chloe: I want you to run the daily operations, Carter. You’re the only person in this family who stood by the truth.
Carter: I would be honored to protect Julian’s legacy alongside you.
They walked together back into the main living room, away from the cold foyer floor where so much pain had been inflicted. The dark clouds that had hung over the Vance family for years seemed to clear at last.
