Two tall security guards walked into the room, stepping between Marcus and the young boy.
Guard 1: Sir, you need to come with us peacefully.
Marcus: Get your hands off me! Do you have any idea who I am?
Guard 2: We know exactly who you are, Mr. Vance. And the Bishop gave us strict orders.
Marcus: I am going to destroy this church! I will buy this land and demolish every single stone!
Bishop Miller: This land was deeded to Saint Jude in 1892. It cannot be sold, Marcus.
Marcus sneered, grabbing his expensive coat off the chair before turning on his heel and marching toward the exit doors.
Marcus: This isn't over! My father's lawyers will have you stripped of your collar by tomorrow morning!
Bishop Miller: God bless you, Marcus. I hope one day you find peace that money cannot buy.
The heavy oak doors slammed shut behind Marcus, leaving the quiet hum of the church organ echoing in the background.
Mr. Sterling: Your Grace... what should we do about the media waiting outside on the cathedral steps?
Bishop Miller: Tell them the truth, Sterling. Tell them the long-lost grandson of Arthur Vance has finally been restored to his family name.
Leo: Does this mean... my mom doesn't have to work two jobs anymore?
Bishop Miller: Your mother will never have to worry about a rent payment, a grocery bill, or a doctor's visit for the rest of her life.
Leo: Can we go tell her now? She's working the afternoon shift at the bakery.
Bishop Miller: We have already sent a driver to fetch her, Leo. She is on her way to the cathedral right now.
A few moments later, the side doors of the vestry burst open. A tired woman in a stained flour apron ran into the room, her hair messily pulled back into a bun.
Clara: Leo! Leo, are you okay? The parish driver said there was an emergency!
Leo: Mom! Look!
Leo ran into his mother's arms, hugging her tightly around the waist.
Clara: What is going on here? Why are there news trucks outside?
Bishop Miller: Welcome home, Clara. Your father's estate has finally been restored to you.
Clara: My father? But... they told me he left us with nothing but debts.
Bishop Miller: They lied to you, Clara. They hid the will, they hid the trust, and they hid your birth certificate.
Clara stood frozen, tears welling up in her eyes as she looked at the golden crown sitting peacefully on the velvet table.
Clara: All these years... we were living in a tiny basement apartment while they spent my father's hard work?
Bishop Miller: Yes, my dear. But justice has finally arrived.
