Justice Restored

The Lost Crown of Saint Jude

Mr. Sterling: Mrs. Vance... I mean, Ms. Clara. I am the legal representative for the Vance estate. Here are the initial paperwork drafts restoring your full ownership of the trust.

Clara: I don't understand all these legal words... how much did they take from my father?

Mr. Sterling: Over three hundred million dollars in assets, property, and dividends over thirty years.

Clara: Three hundred million? And my son was wearing shoes with holes in the soles...

Bishop Miller: The court will freeze all of Marcus and his father's accounts by nightfall. Every single penny stolen will be returned with interest.

Clara: I don't care about millions... I just wanted my son to have a proper winter coat and a safe place to sleep.

Leo: Mom, look! The crown isn't floating anymore! It's sitting on the table!

Bishop Miller: Because its work is finished, Leo. The truth has been revealed.

Outside the church, police cruisers pulled up with flashing red and blue lights. Federal agents stepped out, marching straight toward Marcus Vance as he tried to open his sports car door.

Marcus: Get your hands off me! What is the meaning of this?

Federal Agent: Marcus Vance, you are under arrest for grand larceny, estate fraud, and forging legal trust documents.

Marcus: You can't arrest me! My father is friends with the mayor!

Federal Agent: Your father was arrested an hour ago at the airport trying to board a private jet to Zurich.

Marcus stood frozen in handcuffs as reporters clicked photos and news cameras filmed every second of his disgrace.

Reporter: Marcus! Did you intentionally hide Arthur Vance’s true heir for twenty years?

Marcus: No comment! Get those cameras out of my face!

Inside the cathedral, Clara looked out the grand window, watching the man who had mocked her poverty being led away in police custody.

Clara: I never wanted revenge... I just wanted fairness.

Bishop Miller: Justice is not revenge, Clara. It is simply putting back what was stolen.

Leo: Mom... does this mean I can get that bicycle I wanted for Christmas?

Clara: You can have ten bicycles, Leo. But first, we are going to buy a big house with a garden for you to play in.

Leo: Can we invite the kids from the shelter to play too?

Clara: Yes, sweetheart. We will build a brand new shelter so no child ever has to sleep in the cold again.

Bishop Miller: Arthur Vance would be very proud of his grandson today.

Leo: Thank you, Father
