Cracks in the Luxury Foyer

The Maid Smashing the Drywall Saved My Daughter

Mark: What on earth is going on here? Why does it sound like a demolition site?

Victoria: Mark, thank God you’re down here! Your crazy maid has completely lost her mind!

Elena: Mr. Sterling, please, look at the wall! Look inside!

Victoria: She snapped! She took a sledgehammer from the garage and started smashing our drywall for no reason at all!

Mark: Elena, put the hammer down right now. Have you lost your head?

Elena: I haven't lost anything, sir. Listen to me! Your daughter is inside that wall!

Mark: What? What kind of sick joke is this?

Victoria: See? She’s delusional! She’s trying to cover up her own psychotic episode by making up absurd lies!

Elena: I heard her crying while I was dusting the framed American flag artwork! Lily’s voice was coming from inside the hollow partition!

Mark: Lily? Lily, can you hear me?

Lily: Daddy! Daddy, it’s dark! I’m scared!

Mark’s face drained of all color as the tiny voice filtered through the broken plaster. He dropped his leather briefcase to the floor and rushed past his wife toward the shattered wall.

Mark: Lily! Oh God, baby, hold on!

Victoria: Mark, wait! Don't listen to her, she must have trapped the girl in there herself to frame me!

Elena: I saw you lock the access panel behind the decorative coat closet this morning, Mrs. Sterling!

Victoria: You lie! You dirty little thief, how dare you accuse me in my own home!

Victoria lunged forward and delivered a stinging slap across Elena’s face. The loud crack echoed through the high-key foyer, forcing Elena back against the staircase railing. Elena held her burning cheek, but her eyes remained locked on the little girl struggling to crawl out.

Mark: Victoria, get the hell back! Don't you dare touch her!

Victoria: She’s lying to you, Mark! She’s trying to ruin our family and steal from our estate trust fund!

Mark: Elena, help me pull these boards apart! Quick!

Elena: Here, take my gloved hands, pull from the edge!

Together, Mark and Elena tore away the ragged edges of the drywall, exposing the narrow dark space hidden behind the wall structure. Mark reached his long arms inside, catching his trembling five-year-old daughter under her arms and pulling her safely into the bright light of the foyer.

Mark: I’ve got you, baby. I’ve got you. Are you okay? Are you hurt?

Lily: Daddy... she locked me in the dark box...

Victoria: Lily, darling, don't say that! You wandered in there yourself while playing hide and seek, didn't you?

Lily: No! Step-mommy put me in there because I wouldn't give her mommy's jewelry box!

Victoria: She’s confused, Mark! She’s five years old, she doesn't know what she’s saying!

Elena: She’s not confused, Mrs. Sterling. And you forgot about what was in her pocket.
