Justice at the Doorstep

The Maid Smashing the Drywall Saved My Daughter

Victoria: It was an insurance backup plan! The mortgage on this mansion is three months past due! The bank was going to issue a foreclosure notice next week!

Mark: We make six hundred thousand dollars a year! How is the mortgage past due?

Victoria: Because I invested in the luxury resort project in Miami and lost it all! I had to cover the debt!

Mark: You gambled away our entire life savings and tried to murder my daughter to cover your debt?

Victoria: I was desperate! You don't know what it’s like to face poverty again! I won't go back to being poor!

Elena: Sirens are coming down the driveway, Mr. Sterling.

Victoria: Mark, please! Tell them it was an accident! Tell them the maid did it! I’ll give you back the bank tokens! I’ll sign over the divorce settlement without asking for a single cent!

Mark: You won't have a choice in the divorce settlement from inside a federal prison cell.

Victoria scrambled to her feet, her mascara running down her cheeks, and bolted toward the heavy oak front doors. But before her hand could touch the brass handle, two uniformed police officers threw the doors open, their weapons drawn.

Officer Miller: Police! Nobody move! Put your hands where we can see them!

Victoria: Officers! Thank God! That maid and my husband just assaulted me! Look at my face! He slapped me!

Officer Miller: Ma'am, step away from the entrance. We received a high-priority 911 dispatch regarding child imprisonment and felony endangerment.

Mark: Officer, my wife locked my five-year-old daughter inside that drywall partition. We have continuous video and audio evidence recorded on this micro-camera right here.

Officer Miller: Hand the device to my partner, sir. Ma'am, turn around and place your hands behind your back.

Victoria: You can't arrest me! Do you know who my divorce lawyer is? I’ll have your badges for this!

Officer Davis: You have the right to remain silent, ma'am. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.

The metallic click of handcuffs snapping onto Victoria’s wrists echoed loudly in the luxury foyer. She sobbed uncontrollably as the officers led her out the front doors toward the flashing red and blue lights of the police cruisers.
