The Arrival of the Sheriff

The Maid Stood Her Ground in the Mansion She Secretly Owned

Victoria ran over to the tall dining room windows overlooking the long circular driveway. Red and blue lights flashed against the manicured front lawn. Two white county sheriff vehicles pulled up behind her sports car.

Victoria: You called the police on me?

Elena: I called the sheriff's department with an official court order for immediate lockout and trespass removal.

Victoria: This is my home! You can't do this to me!

Elena: It was never your home. You were a guest who overstayed her welcome and stole the silverware.

The heavy front door opened, and heavy footsteps echoed down the marble hallway. Two uniformed deputies walked into the dining room, holding official legal documents in their hands.

Deputy 1: Victoria Sterling?

Victoria: Yes! Officer, this woman is an impostor! She's dressed as my maid and trying to take over my property!

Deputy 1: Ma'am, we have a emergency writ of possession signed by Judge Miller. Property ownership has been verified under Elena Vance. You need to vacate the premises immediately.

Victoria: What? No! There's been a mistake! Look at my legal papers!

Deputy 2: Ma'am, the judge reviewed the deed, the trust documents, and the fraud reports this morning. You have fifteen minutes to gather your personal clothing and step off the property.

Victoria: Fifteen minutes? That's impossible! I have thousands of dollars worth of clothes, jewelry, and art in this mansion!

Elena: The jewelry bought with my father's money stays here. The art stays here. The clothes you brought into this marriage are in the guest bedroom closet. Take those and get out.

Victoria: You can't strip me of everything!

Elena: I'm not stripping you of anything. You are just leaving with what you brought: nothing.
