Arthur: Where did you find this, Clara?
Clara: Under the main cushion, sir. Right against the wooden frame.
Victoria: She's lying! She probably planted it herself to get money out of you!
Arthur: Clara has worked for my family for six years. Her loyalty has never been questioned.
Clara: I was adjusting the seat covers before the guests arrived, Mr. Vance. I felt something hard near the back support.
Victoria: Arthur, darling, you can't possibly take the word of domestic help over your fiancee!
Arthur: I take the word of whoever tells me the truth, Victoria. And right now, you look terrified.
Victoria: I am terrified because a stranger planted a wire in our home!
Arthur: This isn't just a wire. This is a direct transmitter connected to an external server.
Arthur held the small metallic object in his palm, feeling the faint warmth of its active battery. He looked around the long dining table at his corporate partners, investors, and family members.
Arthur: Who else knew about the private merger discussion scheduled for tonight?
Victoria: Everyone knows we are discussing the estate sale and the corporate acquisition tonight!
Arthur: No. Only three people knew the exact financial figures involved in the settlement.
Clara: Sir... there is something else.
Arthur: What is it, Clara?
Clara: Before the guests arrived, Miss Victoria asked me to take a break early. She said she would finish setting up the master head chair herself.
Victoria: You ungrateful little brat! I gave you a break out of kindness!
Arthur: Victoria, sit down.
Victoria: I will not sit down and be interrogated in front of our friends!
Arthur: I said sit down!
The room went dead silent. Arthur pulled out his phone and pressed a quick speed-dial button for his head of private security.
Arthur: Mark, sweep the perimeter. Lock down all exits. Nobody leaves this estate until the police arrive.
Victoria: Police? Arthur, you are making a massive mistake!
Arthur: The only mistake I made was trusting you near my legal documents and my family trust fund.
Clara: Mr. Vance... the light on the back just changed from green to red.
Arthur: That means someone on the other end just cut the live feed.
Victoria: I don't know what you're talking about! I'm leaving!
Arthur: You step one foot out that door, Victoria, and my legal team files a full criminal injunction against you before sunset.
