As the police led Victoria out through the heavy double doors, a heavy silence settled over the dining hall. The guests began whispering among themselves, still stunned by the dramatic downfall of Dallas's most talked-about bride-to-be.
Arthur: Ladies and gentlemen, I apologize for tonight's disruption. The dinner is officially canceled. My security team will escort you all safely to your vehicles.
The guests quickly gathered their belongings and made their way toward the exit, leaving Arthur, Mark, and Clara alone in the grand room.
Mark: I'll hand over the audio bugs and gate logs to the police investigators, Mr. Vance.
Arthur: Thank you, Mark. Make sure our legal team files for an emergency injunction against Richard Sterling's firm immediately.
Mark: Right away, sir.
Arthur turned to Clara, who was quietly gathering the unused wine glasses near the sideboard.
Arthur: Clara.
Clara: Yes, Mr. Vance?
Arthur: You risked your job today. Victoria could have easily turned the entire staff against you.
Clara: My father always taught me that honesty is worth more than a paycheck, sir. You have always been fair to us.
Arthur: Fair isn't enough. Starting tomorrow, you are taking over as the head estate manager of this house.
Clara: Sir? I... I don't know what to say.
Arthur: You'll have full oversight of house security, staff management, and estate logistics. With a tripled salary and full corporate benefits.
Clara: Thank you, Mr. Vance. I won't let you down.
Arthur: I know you won't, Clara. You're the only person in this room who saved me from losing everything.
Arthur walked over to the grand window, looking out over the Texas horizon as the sun began to dip below the trees, feeling the immense relief of a narrow escape from destruction.
