Mark: You're not taking anything out of this house, Henderson. Drop the briefcase on the floor right now!
Henderson: You're a fool, Mark! This estate belonged to David Vance. When his son Thomas died overseas, the entire fortune was supposed to revert to the firm's holding company!
Mark: Thomas didn't die overseas without an heir! His daughter Lily is upstairs right now, and she's the rightful owner of every single dollar!
Henderson: That bastard child has no legal rights! Her mother was a nobody, and Thomas's marriage was never registered in the state of Texas!
Mark: You lied to the probate court! You hid Thomas's military life insurance and forged the foreclosure papers so your firm could steal the property!
Henderson: Prove it! The original marriage certificate and military trust deed are inside this briefcase, and they're going straight into an incinerator!
Before Henderson could make a move, the heavy wooden door at the top of the basement hatch slammed open with a deafening crash.
Police Officer: DALLAS POLICE! DROP YOUR WEAPONS AND GET ON THE GROUND NOW!
Bright red and blue strobe lights flashed through the ground-level basement vents as three armed officers flooded down the concrete stairs, their guns trained directly on Henderson and his accomplice.
Mark: Officers, thank God! These men broke in through the foundation hatch to destroy evidence in an ongoing probate fraud case!
Police Officer: Hands behind your head, Henderson! We got the call from your wife, Mr. Miller—she sent us the live video feed from your security cameras!
Henderson dropped the iron crowbar with a loud metallic clatter, his face turning pale as the officers forced him to the concrete floor and snapped heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists.
Henderson: This is a mistake! I am a senior partner at Vance & Associates!
Police Officer: You have the right to remain silent, counselor. You can explain your legal theories to the grand jury.
Mark lowered his firearm, his chest heaving as the officers led the two hand-cuffed men up the stairs. He bent down and picked up the faded leather briefcase, opening the brass clasp to inspect the documents inside. Nestled inside the top pocket was an official U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs certificate, stamped with an official military seal, listing Lily Vance as the sole beneficiary of a $10,000,000 trust fund.
Mark: Thomas... I kept my promise, brother. Your girl is going to be safe.
