Mark: Out of my way! Get out of my way!
Mark yelled as he shoved past two co-workers in the hallway, practically leaping down the carpeted stairs toward the parking garage. His hands shook violent violently as he unlocked his SUV.
Mark: Hang on, Toby. Daddy is coming. Hang on, baby boy.
He threw the car into reverse, the tires screeching against the polished concrete floor of the garage. He pulled onto the main boulevard, tearing through traffic with complete disregard for the speed limit. Every red light felt like an eternity, every delayed turn a torture.
On the dashboard mount, his phone continued to stream the live feed. Mrs. Gable hadn't comforted the boy. Instead, she stood over Toby's small chair, towering like a tyrant, pointing her finger aggressively into the crying boy's face while the rest of the toddlers watched in terrified silence.
Mrs. Gable: Silence! You do not cry in my classroom! Look at me when I speak to you!
Toby: Mommy... Daddy... help me...
The tiny voice came through the phone speaker, cracked and trembling. The sound cut straight through Mark's heart like a rusted knife. He slammed his foot harder onto the accelerator, his knuckles turning stark white on the steering wheel.
Mark: She put her hands on my son. She put her damn hands on my boy!
The private academy was a wealthy establishment in an affluent suburb, boasting high tuition fees, top-tier security, and strict discipline policies. Mark had paid over two thousand dollars a month, believing his son was in the safest, most nurturing environment money could buy. Instead, he was paying for his child to be abused behind closed doors.
He pulled into the school driveway, mounting the curb as he slammed the brakes. The SUV lurched to a halt right in front of the main entrance doors.
Security Guard: Sir, you can't park here! You need a visitor pass!
Mark: Get out of my face!
Mark pushed past the front guard, practically taking the double doors off their hinges as he burst into the polished marble lobby of the school. He sprinted down the hallway, the sound of his heavy boots echoing off the immaculate white walls.
Principal Vance: Excuse me! Sir! Where do you think you're going?
Principal Vance stepped out of his corner office, wearing a tailored suit and a look of indignation. But Mark didn't even slow down to look at him.
Mark: Move!
He rounded the final corner of the hall. Classroom 104 was right in front of him. Through the small glass window on the door, he saw Mrs. Gable raising her hand again, threatening the weeping child. Mark raised his boot and kicked the classroom door wide open with a deafening crash.
