Sarah: Liam, Maya! Breakfast is ready on the table!
Liam: Coming, Mom! Look what Dad brought home from the court hearing!
Liam ran out onto the patio holding a newspaper, with Maya trailing right behind him holding a box of fresh juice boxes. David stepped out behind them, carrying a tray of warm coffee and pastries.
David: Front page of the legal Gazette today, sweetheart.
Sarah: Let me see it.
Sarah took the paper and looked at the headline: "Evelyn Vance Sentenced to Life Without Parole in Historic Kidnapping and Financial Fraud Case."
Sarah: It’s finally over. The estate was fully recovered?
David: Every single penny. The courts froze all her foreign assets and returned the entire inheritance to the kids' trust accounts. The old mansion has been officially sold to a demolition firm—it will be knocked down next week.
Maya: Good! I hated that old wall, Mommy.
Sarah: Me too, sweetie. But we never have to look at it again.
Liam sat down next to his mother, wrapping his arms gently around her waist.
Liam: I promised I’d protect you, Mom. Even when we thought you were gone.
Sarah: You saved my life, Liam. You and your sister listening to those small sounds when no one else believed you.
