Two weeks later, Sarah was back home, resting comfortably in a soft armchair in the living room.
The shattered glass had been cleaned up, and the hardwood floor was polished and spotless again.
Mark walked in carrying a tray with warm tea and fresh soup for his wife.
Mark: Here you go, hot soup and herbal tea just like the doctor ordered.
Sarah: Thank you, Mark. You have been taking such good care of me since we came back.
Mark: It's the least I can do after acting like an absolute fool at the market.
Sarah smiled softly, reaching up to take the teacup from his hands carefully.
Sarah: The doctor said my heart scans are looking much more stable now that stress is lower.
Mark: Arthur's lawyer called this morning too. Your sister agreed to drop her court claim today.
Sarah: Really? She actually signed the settlement release papers?
Mark: Once Arthur showed her legal team your medical records, she realized she had no case.
Sarah: That means the trust fund money will clear next week without any more court delays.
Mark: Yes, and we can schedule your surgery with the specialist in California immediately.
Evelyn and Arthur walked into the bright living room, carrying a large box of groceries.
Evelyn: We brought fresh fruits and organic vegetables from the market for dinner tonight!
Arthur: And don't worry, I paid full price without causing any scenes at the counter this time.
Everyone in the room laughed softly, feeling the heavy tension finally melt away completely.
Mark sat down on the arm of Sarah's chair and rested his hand gently on her shoulder.
Mark: No more keeping secrets, Sarah. Whatever comes next, we face it together as a team.
Sarah: Promise me we will never scream at each other in front of strangers again.
Mark: I promise. From now on, only honesty and respect in this house and everywhere else.
Sarah leaned her head back against Mark, feeling truly safe and supported for the first time.
The sun shone brightly through the living room windows, filling the home with warmth and hope.
